I took the the five youngest kids to the Arbor Day Festival at Gubler Park along with Bradley, Emily, and Clarissa Williams. There was a free bounce house, free hot dogs, and free kites! They also have a splash pad there. It was hot and some of the kids wanted to play in it and so they got completely soaked in their clothes!

SHOCK!!
I went out of town for the weekend and when I came back Jase and Jared said that they had a surprise for me. They led me to two ziploc bags hanging on our fridge -- each with a ponytail in it. Janika had chopped off Janelle and Jenna's hair into a bob while I was gone! I was so shocked that Janika (who has never cut hair before in her life) would actually cut off two of her sister's hair without even asking me first!
She explained that she was brushing Janelle's hair amidst protests and screams. Exasperated, Janika said, "We should just cut it off." Janelle said, "okay." Janika said, "Really?" She asked her Dad if it was okay (he said it was) and then looked up a youtube video on "how to cut hair" and that was that!
If she had called and asked me I would have said, "No Way!" But, what's done is done. Their hair looks cute, they have received tons of compliments on it, and it is way easier to do in the morning! Kind of makes me afraid to leave town though!

Court of Honor
Rick went to Jared's Court of Honor tonight and I stayed home with the rest of the kids. Jared got awarded merit badges for Family Life, Citizenship of the Nation, and Citizenship of the World. He also received the STAR advancement. Congratulation, Jared!
Recently Jared's scout group has been working on the Rifle Shooting Merit Badge. They had a contest to see who could shoot the targets the best and Jared won. He was pretty excited because his Scout leader, Lance Douglas, gave the winner a debit card that had $12.00 on it. So Jared has been cashing in drinks at Lightfoots everyday!

Josh's Class
Today Jenna and I went to Josh's class since he was "Chief of the Week." I brought in a game to play with the kids that I gave Josh for his birthday. The kids loved it! It was so cute to hear all of those first graders laughing hysterically every time the kids put their face in the various pictures.

Jase's Awards Banquet
Tonight was Jase's National Junior Honor Society Awards Banquet (that's a mouthful!) held at Dixie University. I was already there (interpreting an afternoon class and then teaching my ASL class) and so I met Jase and Rick at the banquet. It was really nice! Congratulation to Jase for receiving the "Gold Helmet" and "Silver Spear" award! He was also only four points away from achieving the "Diamond Shield" award, which is the highest award at Snow Canyon Middle School! He did everything for these awards COMPLETELY on his own. I really didn't even know he that he was doing the Honor Armor program! I am extremely impressed with Jase's self motivation and dedication! (And doesn't he look nice in his new suit?)

Happy Birthday, Josh!!
I can't believe that Josh is SEVEN years old!! He seems too little to be seven!! One more year and he will be baptized. Where does the time go? He is also "Chief of the Week" for his classroom and so he gets to take this parrot (Mr. Macaw) with him wherever he goes and then write a report about his adventures with him! Josh opened presents from us and got a card and birthday money from both Grandparents. (Thank you Grandma and Grandpa!!) He combined his birthday money to get a "Smash Bop-it,", which is his favorite present! Because of our crazy schedule we will have to postpone his friend party until next week.

Janika -- Santa Clara Princess!!!
Janika participated in the Santa Clara Princess Pageant tonight and she WON!!! She did such a great job and we are really proud of her! Janika's best friend, Kiara Christensen, also did an amazing job and got 1st Attendant. She did a humorous monologue and it was so funny! She is a great actress! 2nd Attendant was McKayla Redfearn. She did an amazing job on her piano solo (playing "Tarantella")!
All of the girls were absolutely gorgeous (and sweet too) and they all did a great job on their talents! For Janika's talent she sang, "I See the Light" from Tangled and in the middle where there is an instrumental interlude she signed it in ASL. It was gorgeous! For her "active wear" she highlighted "dance" and "cooking." She looked great during the group dance number and had a great smile and so much stage presence! (This first picture was taking during the rehearsal).
When Janika's Aunt, Julie, heard that her pageant was tonight she and Madee decided to come down from Ogden to attend! And then Grandma Jensen and Gerilyn decided to come with them! Janika's cousin, Kallie Sabey, was also in town and came! Janika was SO excited to have them come and was thrilled to have Julie be her backstage stylist! Julie did all of her pageant hairstyles and Madee did her makeup at home before the interview and before the evening portion of the pageant. We appreciate their support and help SO MUCH!!

Kayenta Street Painting Festival
While Rick and I were at the ASL Silent Weekend and Janika's Pageant Dress Rehearsal, Grandma Jensen and Gerilyn went to Kayenta's Street Painting Festival to watch Jaiden dance and to see the sites! They also took the kids out to eat and to the Brigham Young Home. The kids were absolutely thrilled to be able to spend time with their Grandma and Aunt! Jaiden was excited that they were able to come watch her dance!
The kids were all playing above while Janika was doing this...
Check out Madee's make up case ---- WOW!!!
