Jared -- Sadies

Jared enjoyed Sadies with Heather Condie.  He said that the entire group consisted of Seniors except her him and Heather so he didn't know the other kids very well, but said that they were cool!  For the day date they celebrated the "holidays."  They went on an Easter Egg hunt for Easter and painted pumpkins for Halloween and had a white elephant gift for Christmas.  For dinner they went to the Pasta Factory and then to the dance which was held at the High School outside in the open area in front of the school.  They went to a haunted house afterwards.  He said it was fun!

Jaiden Bling Day!!

It was Red Ribbon week for the schools and today was "Bling Day" for Jaiden!

Deaf Center Trunk-or-Treat

Southern Utah Deaf and Hard of Hearing Program hosted a Trunk-or-Treat tonight.  It was raining and so they had to move everything inside -- which made for a very crowded room filled with kids and candy!

Happy Birthday Janelle!!

Happy Birthday, Janelle!!  Janelle wanted to know exactly when she was born and so I looked up the day in my journal and read her the whole story. (She was born at 11:55 p.m.) Jaiden kept interrupting saying, “Read mine, read mine!!”  So I read to her about her birth also. 

Today was busy trying to clean the house to get ready for her party. We knew that some of her  friends would be out of town for Fall Break but decided to go ahead and have her party anyway.  Janelle made her own cake and planned the whole thing. 

The girls had a white elephant gift exchange, played the candy-bar games, the skittle game, and did an on-line “how well do you know Janelle?” quiz with Kahoot. It is one of those multiple choice things where the participants answer with their phones (or computer).  The girls had a lot of fun with that.  They played the spoon, fork game and had cake and ice-cream. The girls were quite loud and everyone seemed to have a great time!  

 

Staheli Farm

My friend, Allison, told me that their family was going to Staheli Farm this afternoon and asked if our family would like to join them.  I am glad she asked as I am sure I wouldn't have made the effort otherwise.  Rick had decided to spend Fall Break in Vegas working and so the kids and I were on our own.  The Farm opened at noon, which was perfect since I had scheduled the family for dental appointments in the morning.  Everyone complained about spending their first day of Fall Break at the dentist -- except for Jenna who did a little cheer.  I guess the anticipation of a prize did the trick.  All five kids went.  Even I did.  The good news was:  "No cavities!!"  That never happens with our family!  I believe that supporting missionaries brings extra blessings -- and this was one of them!

We hurried home to get ready for Staheli Farm.  Google Maps wasn't working on my phone and I was getting frustrated.  I am directionally challenged and always get lost whenever I head out to Washington Fields.  The kids were all arguing in the car and I missed having our big van.  At least then their arguing was several feet away instead of right behind me.

Things looked up once we arrived.  We used our Dixie Direct for two "buy one get one free" deals.  The kids had a great time.  Josh had been complaining about coming but he changed his tune once he arrived and thanked me for bringing him.  That is one of the things I love about my kids.  They are quick to express gratitude.  The kids had fun at all of the activities.  It was a little hot during the corn maze and since I have no sense of direction I was glad to get that activity out of the way.  But the other activities were fun and the kids kept asking me to take their picture.  Some of the activities included a rope swing, a giant slide, a big bouncy thing, rubber duckies in rain gutter type things that you move by pumping water, a corn maze, wagon rides, tire swings, animals, a corn maze and more. We were there for several hours and the kids loved it! 

On the way home we stopped at Costco to get some candy for Janelle’s birthday party and some side dishes for tonight’s BBQ with the Williams. I had suggested we have a BBQ after I went downstairs last night to find our freezer door left open about six inches (I don’t know for how long) and water dripping on to the floor.  There was a lot of partially thawed out food that needed to be used up quickly and so I prepped and marinated three bags of chicken, cooked up the hamburger, and put the steaks in the refrigerator.  Rick wasn’t going to be home to barbeque it and so I offered to share it with the Williams if Jeff could BBQ it.  So Allison picked up some chips and fruit and vegies and we brought the meat and a couple of sides too.  It was a delicious meal and fun to continue visiting!  I had to drag the kids away in order to put them to bed!
