Kid quotes

Jenna was watching "Backyardigans" (one of her favorite shows on Netflix) and they were singing, "I'm at the top of the world..."  Jenna stated matter of factly:  "If they are at the top of the world, then they can see Jesus!"

We were watching one of those silly fake movie trailers (a spoof of "Dora, the Explorer") and the kids thought it was pretty intense.  Jaiden said, "Too bad that isn't a real movie.  If that was a real movie, that would be SO intensive!"

Family Pictures

My brother and sister-in-law, Shane and Alicia and their cute kids came and spent a few days with us this past week.  It was fun to see them and the kids had so much fun with their cousins!  Alicia also did a photo shoot for us.  (Thanks Alicia!)  Here are the pictures!  (And there are still a few more to come that aren't finished yet).  Poor Josh and Jenna were sick with a bad cold and so we were lucky to get a few smiles out of them.  I like this picture (except for the fact that Jenna's flower had moved from the side of her head to the top of her head!)

 Black and Whites...

Photo shoots with large families and young children are difficult!  This shows how we really felt!
And then of course we had to get one of just the two of us!

Swimming Fun with Uncle Shane!

My brother, Shane, and his family came and spent a few days with us.  The kids had a blast playing with their cousins.  They remembered how their Uncle Shane did tricks with them in the pool from the last time they came a few years ago and roped him into doing it again!

Swimming Lessons

Swimming lessons got pushed back clear to the end of the summer this year because we had so many out of town trips.  I had the four youngest in lessons this year and was lucky to be able to get them in four different classes all at the same time!  This was Jenna's first time in swimming lessons and she did great!  She was in the beginning level and passed with flying colors.  Jenna loves to swim and is very comfortable in the water.  Josh was in Level 2 this year but they suggested he take it again because he is still apprehensive about doing the different skills on his own.  Jaiden was in level three and passed.  Janelle was the only girl in her level four class and even though she out-swam all those boys, the instructor suggested she take level four again next year to perfect her strokes.

Deaf Branch Youth Conference

For Youth Conference President Jensen and Brother Julian took this group of kids to Castle Dale to see the Castle Dale Pageant and then they camped overnight.   Jase:  The pageant was fine.  We got to the camp site at like 11:00 and then we (the boys) stayed up until 1:00 a.m. playing SCUM.  It was fun.  Jared:  My favorite part of the pageant was when the girl told her boyfriend she wouldn't marry him because she wanted to get married in the temple.  He left to come to Castle Dale to purchase some land and wanted her to come with him to get married on the way but she wouldn't.  He later received a letter from her and decided to return and marry her in the temple.  He told his friend "this land will still be here in the Spring, but she will not..."

Aladdin!

Brought the whole family to see Aladdin last night.  My mom and dad were in town and so they got to come too.  It was incredible!!  They passed out 3D glasses as you walk in to wear during a portion of the play.  The 3D part was really neat -- all of the kids loved it.  There were so many cool special effects during the show and the talent was incredible too.  We loved it!  Of course only the girls would get in the pictures as usual and this year Janika didn't join in and so we only have the three girls posing with the characters afterwards.  Jenna wore her Jasmine costume and looked so cute!  She was tired though.  We tried to get her to take a nap before coming but unfortunately she had fallen asleep on the couch while my mom and I were swimming outside and when I moved her to a bed she was suddenly wide awake and never would go back down for a nap.  But she stayed awake during the whole show and was really good.  I am grateful that we have such a wonderful outdoor theatre so close to home!
