Powder Puff Game

For FHE we went to the Homecoming Parade. It was a lot of fun! Short and sweet and lots of candy!  We then went to the high school to watch Jared "cheer" for the Powder Puff game!

School Started!!

School started today!! The morning was a little stressful. Josh woke up in the night crying and came into our room totally disoriented with his church vest clutched in his hand (ya, he was really out of it). I think he was just feeling a bit anxious about his first day at a new school. He was fine when he woke up though!

It is going to be SO nice having Josh at the Intermediate School (which is really early) and Jaiden at the Middle School (which is a bit later). Last year I always had to practically drag Jaiden out of bed, but Josh always gets up on his own bright and early, which is nice!

I was glad that we left early for the bus because they had changed the time from last year and so Josh and Bradley barely made it and all of the other kids at that bus stop missed it! Luckily another bus from that school came later and agreed to take them today.

I hurried home and curled Janelle's hair (I had curled Jaiden's last night before bed) and then brought the girls to the middle school. Normally Jared will bring them, or they will walk, but I figured I would take them since it was the first day of school. That was a mistake though!! What normally is a two minute commute turned out to be a twenty minute commute! Traffic was horrible and I sat through three lights trying to turn left! I will never do that again! Luckily we had left early enough that they still made it on time.

I arrived home and curled Jenna's hair and hurried her over to her school -- getting there just in time. She has the outside portables for Chinese and her other teacher inside the school. Now I just need to get Jared out the door! The Seniors don't have to be there until 12:30 and so he invited all of his friends to come over this morning and play video games! I am ready for a nap already!!
Jared actually wanted me to use this picture of him for the collage....

Abbee's Reception

We stayed over at my mom and dad's last night and then drove up to Ogden this morning for Abbee's wedding breakfast. the breakfast and reception that night was held in their backyard and it was amazing! Julie really has a vision and gift for pulling off something like this! Everything was gorgeous! Jaiden and Janelle helped serve chips to the guests. Janika came later with a friend from efy -- Paxon. The kids had a great time dancing at the end of the reception. It was a fun night!

Janika EFY

Janika had a great experience working as an EFY counselor this summer!!! Here are some pictures from her last week (at BYU Provo)!

Abbee's Wedding

Our niece, Abbee, got married today! This morning our family left for Manti in two separate cars so that Rick and I could attend the wedding in the Manti temple -- one of my personal favorites! It stands out like a majestic castle on a hill as you drive towards the small city of Manti, Utah.

As soon as we arrived in Manti, Rick and Jared and Josh went to the grocery store to buy lunch. He hadn't wanted to spend the money to go out to eat, but then ended up spending $60.00 in groceries instead! We went to a park and the kids started making their sandwiches. Rick and I grabbed a bite and then hurried to the temple. The sealing was beautiful. I always love the spirit I feel during temple weddings!

Jared and the kids met us at the temple and so they were able to be there to see Abbee and Bobby emerge from the temple doors. The group took pictures afterwards and Rick took Jared, Janelle, and Jaiden to do Baptisms for the Dead while I kept an eye on Josh and Jenna.  Josh and Jenna decided to ride with Grandma Jensen back to Ogden.  The rest of us went to a park to eat (again) and Rick and I took a little nap on the grass. Unfortunately Rick left his glasses in the grass and we didn't realize it until it until it was too late. We had Janika call one of her friends who lives in Manti to look for them, but he couldn't find them. Oh well, he was due for a new prescription anyway.

Hopefully we can include some pictures that the photographer took later, but in the meantime here is a snapshot of the happy couple coming out of the temple. Jared said that Bobby's suit was "fresh" and he wouldn't mind having one of his own!
Rick and Jared met up with Janelle and Jaiden and me in American Fork where we attended the wedding reception of Ryan and Rachel Chandler. Ryan is Valerie and Greg Chandler's oldest son. Valerie and Greg served in my mission and Valerie was one of my very favorite missionary companions!  When I saw that they were having a reception in American Fork on the very day we would be driving up North, I just knew we had to attend! It was so fun to see Valerie and Greg and catch up on life for a few minutes! I am so grateful for great friends in my life!
We ate some yummy treats and then continued on our way to Salt Lake where we spent the night at my mom and dad's house. It was a long day, but a good one!

Jenna Braces

Jenna just got phase one of her braces off! She is only eight years old, but has been through the process of getting teeth pulled, wearing an expander for a year, having head gear for a few months, and having braces! Her under-bite and cross bite have now been corrected, but she will need another round of braces when she gets older.

I brought her straight from the Orthodontist (Dr. Wayne Christian) to her third grade playgroup, which was at Southwest Dance. There the girls were making crafts, playing games, and getting their faces painted (which is why she has pink flowers across her forehead -- no they didn't paint them on at the Orthodontist's office!)
