Patriarchal Blessing
Jared received his Patriarchal Blessing this afternoon. Our Patriarch is President Atwood. We fasted in preparation for it and Janika also came to watch. The Patriarch visited with us for about an hour before giving Jared the blessing. It was a beautiful blessing with lots of wonderful promises. We are proud of Jared for being worthy of receiving his Patriarchal Blessing and hope he returns to it often for guidance and direction!
Scout Campout
Josh had his first overnight scout camp this weekend! Rick and I were gone on our over-night stay in Ephraim at the same time and so I helped him to get everything packed before we left. They roasted hot-dogs and told scary stories. It sounded like they had a good time!

Janika Graduation from Snow
Janika graduated from Snow with her AS today!! Rick and I left yesterday afternoon to head for Ephraim. We had downloaded some books on CD, but ended up just talking the entire three hours of the drive. We stopped for dinner at Sizzler and checked in to the Willow Creek Inn. We went to Janika's apartment after her date to visit and pick up the graduation tickets.
Saturday morning we at breakfast at the hotel and then went to the Activity Center for the graduation. It seemed so tiny compared to Burns Arena where Jase's high school graduation was held. It is obvious that they have a great music program there -- the orchestra and choir were awesome! The speakers were very good too. We especially enjoyed the talk from Spencer J. Cox and his wife Abby Palmer Cox. He is Utah's Lieutenant Governor and a graduate from Snow. He and his wife spoke together and Rick even pulled out the program and took notes.
There ceremony was a little long -- we were there an hour early and then the program lasted another two to two and a half hours. But it was nice. Snow offered a luncheon afterwards for everyone, so that is nice, considering there were over 1000 graduates and their families! We took pictures afterwards and then Rick and I went to the Manti Temple to do a session while Janika finished cleaning her apartment. She also needed to finish packing and have time to say all of her goodbyes! Rick and I haven't done a session in the Manti Temple since we were dating (Manti Mini Vac with the Canyon Club!) I had forgotten how huge it is! It is such a beautiful temple -- one of my very favorites!
Then we took Janika and her roommate, Meagan, out to dinner at a Mexican restaurant and headed back home! It was a great way to spend my birthday (I can't believe I am 49!)

I graduated from Snow 29 years ago, in 1988 -- during the 100 year centennial celebration! Here is a picture of me at my graduation next to Janika's picture!

Jaiden's Greek Mythology Play
Jaiden participated in a comedy play with her drama class that was a farce of various Greek Myths. It was cute and there were some great lines!

Neighborhood Party
Tonight was the neighborhood pool party and barbecue at the Sanchez's home. There was tons of food -- hotdogs, hamburgers and loads of yummy salads and desserts. The temperature was perfect. They have such a huge yard with lots of grass, a swimming pool, a tramp, and even horses. Melinda Vuikadavu brought face painting supplies and the kids loved that. They also had a ball swimming with their friends and we enjoyed visiting with the adults!

Jared Track and Senior Ball
Jared had his day date for Senior Ball today and also his
track meet. He and Gohki picked up their dates and headed for Sand
Hollow Reservoir where they were meeting all of their friends. Jared went to the dance with Jacie Mooring.
Unfortunately Jared got pulled over (for the very first time) on the way there for not changing lanes when passing a cop who was ticketing someone else on the side of the road. Rick and I didn't even know that was a law! We thought it was just more of an act of caution thing. So that is a bummer -- and embarrassing to have happen on a date! The ticket was for $150.00. That will be an expensive lesson for Jared who is working hard at an $8.00 an hour job!
The guys weren't able to stay long because they had to hurry back to Dixie High School to run their two relays. They left their dates with the group so that they could still enjoy the activities without them. Jared's team was trying to qualify for state and they made it! They qualified in the Medley relay!!

Temple and Kite Festival
This morning Jaiden, Janelle, Emily, and Lizzie went to the temple to do Baptisms for the Dead. It was nice of Lizzie's dad to bring them! Rick also went to the temple (about an hour before they did). He then picked up groceries (and the corsage for Jared's date) on the way home.
Janelle went babysitting and I brought Jaiden, Josh, and Jenna to the Kite Festival! I love how they can get nice books now with their reading chart instead of just kites like in the past. The air used to be filled with kites at the old location of the kite festival, maybe because it is more windy there, but I love the new location at DSU way better (even if there isn't wind and not a lot of kites flying). It is closer and much more convenient and there is actually parking available!
The kids had a fun time going to all of the booths and playing Blinko over and over and over!! They won coupons for free kids' meals at Pizza Pie Cafe at one of the booths and so we decided to go there for lunch!

Jenna -- Class Zoo!!
Today Jenna's class held a "class zoo!" All of the
kids researched a particular animal and put together a poster for their
animal answering various questions. Parents were invited to check out
the zoo and walk around and see the posters and ask the children about
their animals. It was really cute!
Janelle had a babysitting job tonight and Jaiden and Emily had a late night at Lizzie's. Jenna had fun with friends after school and all evening!
Josh also went to a friend's house after
school and they ended up going to some of their friend's soccer games
and so he got home late also. Rick and I went to watch Jared run, went out to eat, and then watched our EFY training!

Soccer -- Jenna and Josh
I love watching the kids play soccer!! Jenna's team has won every game so far and today she even made a goal. She was pretty excited about that! Josh's team won every game so far until tonight. They lost by one point. It was a great game though and fun to watch!!
