We had to postpone Father's Day Flee to July this year because of conflicts with Scout Camps. Rick decided to have it at Snow College in Ephraim. I went to SNOW my first two years of college and have a lot of fond memories of that place! We stayed at Pineview apartments and had games and competitions in the recreation center.
The theme Rick came up with for this year is "Body Building Basics: Understanding the eternal significance of the soul and building a unity between the spiritual and physical body." We arrived Thursday night and checked in. Rick and Curtis went and bought all of the food while Steph and I visited and the kids played.
Friday morning we had our opening ceremonies with the traditional "Father's Day Flee" dance. Rick taught a great lesson introducing the theme. Then the kids voted on what competitions they wanted to have throughout the weekend. The kids competed and played at the recreation center and Janika and I went and worked out in the fitness center. After lunch everyone went swimming while I took Janika around the college campus since she is thinking about attending school there. Curtis taught a really effective lesson that evening on keeping your physical body healthy and then we all went out to eat. The kids stayed up and played card games like SCUM.
Curtis and Rick brought all of the kids 12 and older to the Manti temple to do baptisms for the dead early Saturday morning at 6:00 a.m. We then had breakfast and went to the Institute for our final lessons taught by me and Stephanie. Our topic was "We can choose to keep our body a temple and present it as a living sacrifice by keeping the Law of Chastity, both physically and virtually." We headed over to the track for races and I realized how terribly out of shape I am! I ran the 400 and the mile with the kids and did horrible! We then cleaned up the apartments and checked out. We met at the Institute for lunch and awards before heading home.
Father's Day Flee has been a really neat tradition that we do with the Healeys every year. Our kids are all really good friends and enjoy playing and hanging out together. The only complaint of our kids was that the trip was way too short!
