It Came Upon a Midnight Clear (Mom Post)
Rick arranged this Christmas Hymn for Janelle and sent it to her when she was in the MTC, December 2021. However, she couldn't find someone to play it and was never able to perform it. Fast forward to March 2023 -- nearing the end of her mission in Taiwan. This video showed up in my Google Photos. I started crying! It is so beautiful! What a gift!

Jaiden in a National Commercial!
Jaiden got picked to be in a commercial that will be shown nationally on TV (and You Tube) in a couple of weeks! It is for "Balance of Nature" (Nutrilink), a company that sells fruit and vegetable supplements. We have known the owners of the company for several years now. Several of their kids were involved in our Hands in Harmony Carolers and we have always thought very highly of their family. I was really excited when they called and asked if one of our little girls would be interested in auditioning for the commercial. They mentioned Janelle because they had seen her perform with the carolers and thought she was such a cute little actress. But Janelle wasn't interested and so I asked if I could bring Jaiden and she ended up getting the part!
They called last night right before bed-time and said that the filming would take place all day today. So I was scrambling to try and find a baby-sitter for the day, choose out outfits and curl Jaiden's hair. I was panicking because Janika is the one who always curls her hair so cute and I had never worked her new curling iron (see "curls" in the post below). I was awkward at it and it took me way longer than it took her to do it. I also should have read the instructions and watched the tutorial first! I must have done something wrong because when Janika did it Jaiden's curls lasted for days. But when Jaiden woke up this morning her hair was wavy but not curly. So I started over. It went better this time but still didn't look like it did when Janika did it. (I did get better by the time I curled Janelle's hair before her caroling performance the next day). Anyway, I was really wishing Janika had been there to help me!
Jaiden and I went to the studio at 9:00 but they were way behind schedule and we ended up just sitting around the first couple of hours. I finally ran back home to get Rick's laptop so that I could at least grade videos while I was there but after that they were finally filming her and so I didn't get too much done. It was interesting to see all of the time and effort that goes into filming a 60 second commercial. Jaiden was a trooper and did great! I hope that the commercial turns out really good. It is scheduled to come out the day after Christmas so I will make sure to post the link for it when it does! We were there until 5:30 and then went straight to a Christmas Party where we met the rest of the family. Here is a picture of Jaiden with her "co-star," Sam, the Suma Wrestler, and the director.
