Senior Sunrise -- Janelle

The official "Senior Sunrise" was cancelled due to Covid-19, but many groups of students did their own thing -- including Janelle's group of friends. I am really NOT a fan of this tradition. I value a good night's sleep and do not like the idea of teenagers staying up all night and gallivanting around town. Janelle has a stellar group of friends and so I wasn't really worried about them doing things they shouldn't, but I WAS worried about the negative effects of no sleep affecting their judgement -- and driving skills! I was grateful when this little activity was over with!! Here is the run down...

First they all went to Skye Oliver's surprise birthday party, which included swimming and hot-tubbing. Then everyone met at a nearby park for a dance party. Everyone then met up at Clay's house and ate junk food, had a fire pit, a few did each other's hair in curlers (random I know), had movies playing (that no one paid attention to), messed around and talked...  Some went home to sleep after this and joined the others in the morning. I was hoping Janelle would be one of the "wise ones" to do that too but she wanted to have her first "all-nighter" (which I told her was highly over-rated -- but honestly, how would I know since I am never actually stayed up all night.)  She also wanted to try her first Mountain Dew -- such a rebel! She was rebellious enough to drink two -- but not enough to drink three since she heard that three Mountain Dews are the equivalent of a Red Bull energy drink.

Those who stayed went to Denny's at 3:30 in the morning (which I wasn't too happy about either. Janelle said it was packed with teenagers!) They went back to Clay's for a couple of hours and then everyone met up at Airport Hill to watch the sunrise...  All this and Janelle didn't even take one single solitary picture! She certainly doesn't take after me in this regard. But thankfully her friends sent a few...  I can't believe Janelle is a Senior! I especially can't believe that she will be 18 years in less than five months!!
