Jenna Fifth Grade Graduation from Arrowhead Elementary

My baby girl just graduated from Elementary School! I am excited to see my little girl move on, but I am also sad to close this chapter of my life. All seven of my kids graduated from Arrowhead Elementary School and so this school will always hold a special place in my heart! I am grateful to the amazing teachers and staff at Arrowhead! I will miss them! I will miss everything that accompanies elementary school -- the classes, the programs, the field trips, the holiday parties, the choir performances, the plays, the music demonstrations, the field days, the fun runs, the family weeks, the competitions, and even the Science Fairs! I will miss spirit-day on Fridays and the Halloween parade around the track. I will miss walking through the hallways and seeing art work on the walls. Arrowhead Elementary was built in 2005, the year my son Jared started kindergarten. So even though all of my kids graduated from there, he was the first one to attend all six years there, followed by all the rest of my kids. I will always have fond memories of the fifteen years my children attended Arrowhead! Farewell Arrowhead Elementary! We love you!

Because of restrictions due to Covid-19 the fifth graders had a "drive-through graduation." We all drove up to the school and hopped out of the car to take a picture of our son or daughter with their teachers, watch them receive their awards, and then take a few more pictures in front of the school. A few days ago this cute "Give Me Liberty" sign showed up in front of our house. So fun! Jenna made these cute little clay figures for each of her teachers -- one for Mrs. Sparks and one for Mrs. Ping. She loved both of her teachers! Mrs. Sparks had several of the Jensen clan pass through her classroom through the years. We will miss her! 

Clarissa's mom, Allison, sent me this cute picture of Clarissa and Jenna on their first day of school when they were starting kindergarten and their last day of school, graduating from Fifth Grade! I am so glad that these two are still best friends!

Arrowhead Teacher Parade!!

Today the teachers and staff at Arrowhead had a car parade around the local neighborhoods. They decorated their cars and hocked their horns while students and families cheered them on. It was so fun!!

Family Week at Arrowhead

This week was "Family Week" at the elementary school. Rick picked up lunch from Dairy Queen for Jenna on one of the days. He really went all out. Jenna went with Clarissa's family to "Dudes and Donuts" since Rick was at work and I went to "Divas and Donuts" with her (bringing our own Gluten Free donuts with us!)  

 

Give Me Liberty, and Iceberg!!

Jenna was the second person in her fifth grade class to pass off all of the requirements for her "Give Me Liberty award!!" Way to go, Jenna!! The top three students to earn this special award can help pass off other kids. They have clear until Spring to pass it off (and it is given at the end of year graduation) but some of these kids are just over-achievers and passed it off now!! Tonight Rick and I helped Jenna celebrate by bringing her and her friend, Clarissa, to the Deaf Social at Iceberg and then to the Dixie/Snow Canyon Football Game. Then the girls went swimming (with a cool huge moon in the background)!!

District Science Fair

Today was the District Science Fair. Our school science fair was over two months ago and so I told Jenna to read through her information to refresh her memory! This brought back memories from when Jaiden came to the District Science Fair when she was in the first grade. I brought Jenna in to set up her poster and walked around and looked at some of the other projects. They encouraged parents to stay on campus and so I brought my laptop and went into the lounge area and got caught up on my journal.

After the judging I met up with Jenna. She had made friends with the cute girls at her table. Jenna and I went to Chick-fil-a for lunch and then headed back to look at all of the exhibits and then stayed for the awards ceremony. There were two winners from Arrowhead. One of my former primary kids, Hadley, won first place in the first grade division in Engineering for the draw bridge he made out of legos. It was pretty cool!

Yearbook Contest

Every year my kids' elementary school has a contest for the yearbook cover. Jenna didn't win but I thought she did a pretty great job on her picture for the "Arrowhead Eagles!"

Color Fun Run -- Arrowhead

Rick grilled hamburgers for dinner and then the rest of the family went to the Color Fun-Run -- a school fund-raiser at Arrowhead Elementary.  The kids had fun throwing chalk-dust at each other and getting all messy. The "race" was four laps around the Arrowhead Track. Josh actually "won," coming in first place, but they weren't keeping track of times of places or anything and with a track filled with people and so he didn't really get credit for anything.

The girls and I met the Williams over at Zeppes for Gelatas and Josh had some friends over for a late night.

Science Fair 2017

It was a pain getting the Science Fair projects done this year.  Rick worked all day in Vegas on Saturday and Jaiden and I helped spent half the day helping Josh (age 10 -- 5th Grade) with his project. It was a simple project, but still took several hours from start to finish. We helped Jenna (age 8 -- 2nd Grade) with hers on Monday night and it took several hours too. The kids had fun doing the experiments though. Their big motivation for doing the Science Fair is the Arrowhead Medallion that they earn at the end of the year. There are a list of requirements to choose from and the Science and Literacy Fair are on the list as possible options. Our family has done almost twenty science fair projects through the years. We truly have this down to a "science," pardon the pun. I am ready for a break!

Chinese New Year's Celebration

Tonight I brought Josh and Jenna to the Chinese New Year’s Celebration at Desert Hills High School. All of the Chinese Immersion students from Arrowhead, Santa Clara Elementary, and Tree Falls were participating. Jenna sang with the K-2 kids and Josh with the 3-6 graders. He even had a little one line solo and did great! You can listen to it HERE.
