Young Women Overnighter: Coral Pink Sand Dunes

Jenna went on a YW overnighter to the coral pink sand dunes in Kanab!! The trip included camping, hiking, belly of the dragon, and sand surfing! 

Girls' Camp (Jenna)

Jenna's write-up: Girls camp was so fun!! Me and Clarissa had a sleepover the night before, since my parents were out of town. We all met up at the church at 8:00 in the morning (June 4, 2025). We got on the bus, which also had the young men, and then we started the drive. We made a stop at the Orem temple to do baptisms then kept on driving. We got to camp and set up our tents and I was so glad that I remembered how to do it! Then we ate dinner and talked about our plans for the next few days. 

My tent had me Clarissa, Kenzie, and Maddie. We all fell right asleep but it got so cold at night I almost died because my shaking kept me up. Then we woke up at around 6:30 and got ready. We had breakfast and had a devotional and had some time to study scriptures then we left. We planned to go on this hike, and it was horrible!!! It was so hard and uphill the whole time, but along the way were many little things that made it totally worth it. There were the most beautiful wildflowers and butterflies and once we got to the top we could see everything. It was so incredible and so that changed the experience and made it a good one. 

The way down was much easier, but super slippery so it was kinda difficult and one of the girls caught a snake. We then walked to the park and ate lunch while the young men tubed down the river. After that we were exhausted but still had a long day ahead of us. Next we went to go zip lining!!! We got aboard  this giant army truck and drove out to the middle of nowhere to the zip lining place. We did the zip line a few times and it was so fun! I went upside down and everything. Then after that we did the ninja course and it was terrifying, but I still did it. There was this part where you jump off a 5 story high forklift, it was crazy! After that, we were supposed to meet the boys at the pool, but we were all too exhausted, so we just went back to camp. Later that night we went to the hot springs, which was so fun, but they were so hot! Then we got ice cream. 

The next day we got up and made breakfast. I was helping out with pancakes and it was surprisingly super fun! Then we had a quick devotional and heard some pioneer stories and left for the river. We got our tubes and then went down and there was a huge water fall near the top and it was so exilerating and fun, but it got cold and so we stopped and then we left to the pool while the guys went ziplining. I was sad I didn’t go on any water slides. I did jump off the platform, but not the highest, super high one because I am deathly afraid of heights. Then we came back and ate dinner and had some free time and so I braided hair and did tinsel and henna and hair wraps it was funnn. Then we watched skits and they were hilarious! Then we had an amazing testimony meeting and everyone shared either a testimony or what they liked about camp and the spirit was so strong. After that we roasted s’mores and went to bed! 

We woke up the next morning early and cleaned up camp and head out to go home. We stopped at the bountiful temple and did baptisms then we also stopped at the creamery. This trip was so fun and totally worth it I learned so much and had an amazing time with my ward!

YM/YW Temple Trip (Jenna)

I got to go on a temple trip with the young men and young women. It was so much fun and I’m so glad that I went. It started on Friday morning when I woke up at 4:30 to go to the St. George Temple. We met up at the church and then drove over there and did baptisms. After that we drove home and got ready for school. Me and Clarissa ditched last period and went home to get ready to leave. We drove to the church again and we saw a huge bus. We put all our stuff in it and started to drive up north. The long drives were surprisingly so much fun and me Andrew and Clarissa and Audrey and Sadie and Ethan all sat by each other and kept switching seats. Once we got to the Oquirrh Mountain Temple we went in and did baptisms.

After baptisms I did Audrey, Clarissa, Sadie, Olivia, Adri, Maya, Ellie, and Eva‘s hair. That was a blast, then we drove to the church and ate dinner then drove to the places that we were staying. That night was super crammed with all the girls sleeping on the same floor with one bathroom, but we made it work. That morning we ate breakfast and then left to drive to the Provo city Temple. I did all the girls' hair again and we went to the park to eat pizza and play some games. On the drive back, we watched movies, took pictures or videos and listened to music. Each temple was so different but they all had the same feeling inside of them. I felt such peace. I am so glad that I could go. I love knowing an easy way that I can gather Israel!

Jenna, Snowboarding

Jenna went snow boarding for the very first time today! She went with the young men and young women to Brian Head. She LOVED it!! Now she wants to buy all the gear and so again, ha ha! She is also very sore!! 

Jenna's write up: 

I got to go on a snowboarding/skiing trip with the youth from my ward and it was SO FUNNN!!!! At first I was a little nervous about snowboarding because everyone said it was very difficult to learn but I was so glad I chose it. Since I had never been before, my young women’s leader, Paige, said she would teach me. It was a bit terrifying because my feet were strapped to the board in the boots, and it was hard to control. We had to get on the ski lift before I even knew how to snowboard. I was dead. Me and Clarissa were on either side of Paige and we both pushed into her and we all came crashing down hahaha. At the top of the hill she started to teach us what to do to keep balance and stuff. Clarissa got it down pretty good and left down the hill. 

Paige’s son Ethan came up to her as she was teaching me and said that the guy he was teaching just wasn’t getting it at all. She said, “I will go help him, and you help Jenna.” I was so scared at this moment because me and Ethan liked each other the year before, and things didn’t end well so I was sure he hated me. But he ended up being a really good teacher and he wouldn’t let me give up even if it hurt. I was so surprised at how much fun I was having with him and how we clicked so easily again. Clarissa and Andrew were snowboarding together and so were me and Ethan and I was so happy. Me and Ethan started texting again after snowboarding, but I eventually stopped texting him because I didn’t want last year to repeat itself.

YW Tie-Dye Water Fight!

 Our young women always have the best activities! Tonight they had a tie-dye water fight!! 

Disneyland!

Last summer the Bishop in our ward challenged the young men and young women to memorize the entire document of The Living Christ. There were a handful of young men and young women that actually followed through with the challenge until completion, and Jenna was one of them. So our Bishop said that he would take them all to Disneyland! Wow!! Josh didn't memorize it and so he wasn't able to go. But he had his soccer camp Thursday and Friday and then preference on Saturday, and so he was fine missing it. The youth group went this past weekend and had an amazing time! Jenna had been disappointed that her best friend didn't memorize it and therefore not able to go, but she ended up making new friendships with the other youth in the group. They also did baptisms in the Newport Temple and planned to go to the beach, but it was too cold. Here is her write-up:  

"This weekend I went to Disneyland with the youth that passed off memorizing, "The Living Christ." It was SOOOO fun, we went on every ride we could and didn't waste any time, except when we waited in the line for Cars for 2 hours. One the ride up everyone didn't really talk cuz we didn't know each other that well, but that changed when we got to Disneyland. First we went to the hotel and went to bed because we got there pretty late and we fell asleep watching Purple Hearts and the next morning the girls woke up at 5:40 and got ready to go to Disneyland we went downstairs and ate breakfast and then walked to Disneyland. It was only a mile, so it wasn't hard and when we got there I thought that we would just split up into our own little groups, but after me, Sadie, and Reagan went on the best ride that was called the Incredicoaster, we saw the guys, Ethan, Andrew, Bradley, and Otis, and we hung out with them for the rest of the day. 

I'm not sure what my favorite ride was, we went on lots of rides because the bishop bought us fast passes. My top three favorites were probably the incredicoaster, guardians of the galaxy, and the star wars one. They were all incredible and had amazing graphics and everything looked real. We went on incredicoaster 3 times, guardians 3 times, star wars once, and splash mountain 7 times, the tea cups once Matterhorn bobsleds once, and Pirates of the Caribbean once. We got stuck on that one and the fire department had to come get us haha. We also went on space mountain and goofy and soaring. There were so much fun things that happened and I got really close with all of them and I hope I will always remember this fun experience!

Girls' Camp -- Lake Powell!

Sorry for the overload of pictures! I tried to pull lots of pictures into PicMonkey to make collages, but for some reason it isn't working. So after several attempts I just tried uploading them here and it worked, so I left them "as is." I was grateful that the leaders took lots of pictures and shared them over a shared album because Jenna doesn't have a phone and Jaiden left hers at home (which is great -- proud of her!)

Here are the girls' reports. (Jenna's was pretty much one long run-on sentence with very little punctuation, so I did add some commas and periods to make it read-able. I also added capitalization to the beginning of sentences on Jaiden's because she does hers over text and doesn't bother with it!)  

Jenna's Report:

Girls camp was so much fun! When we got there on Wednesday we had to bring all are stuff down on these wagon things and it was so hotttttt.  After that we decided where we would be sleeping (I slept on the deck) and we didn’t know what to do and since it was like 1000 degrees, so I decided to go down the slide in my clothes and it felt amazing! Then we all went swimming and we had pasta factory for dinner, which was so good. We just kind of chilled and went swimming when we felt like it (that was one of the fun things we went swimming all the time). 

Then we went to sleep at like 12:00 because we were tired then we woke up at like 6:00. We had a good breakfast of French toast and went on the hike horse shoe bend and it was really pretty and looked like an illusion, but it was cool. After that we went boating and surfing and I stood up on the surf board for a long time but I could not throw in the rope. We also went boating and that was the best boating day ever it was so much fun and Justin went kind of crazy but it was fun. We came back for dinner and we had leftovers and then went boating again because we had so much fun earlier, but later wasn’t as fun because it was super windy wand the waves were choppy, also this was a different boat too so I think the other boat was funner and I also got whiplash really bad so I came in early.

The next day we went on the hike antelope canyon it was so pretty and cool not hot because we were in the canyon but I still did not feel all that great, I felt dizzy and light headed but after both hikes we got milkshakes so that was good and made me feel much better. Once we got back we went boating again and this time it was with the bishop driving and he goes so crazy but I like crazy so that was so fun. Everyone couldn’t stay on the tubes except me and Mia so we went together and had so much fun going over huge waves and with bishop doing donuts. Then we came back and played this super fun game called secrete Hitler and we had a delicious dinner of Navaho tacos and went night swimming and played mafia at like 12:45. The next day we packed are stuff and left and I think it was the best girls camp experience ever.

Jaiden's Report: 

Wednesday I finished getting ready to leave for camp! We drove up to lake Powell and then started bringing everything down to the docks to pack the houseboat! It took FOREVER cause the parking lot is quite the hike away from the docks... and it was very hot outside haha. After that we put on our swimsuits and swam around outside behind the house boat! They had this floaty that was basically a mat but it would hold a lot of weight without sinking so it was super fun to play on! Soon we went out on the boat and went surfing! It was really fun and I did pretty decently okayish. We had pasta factory for dinner and it was super good too lol, also I think we ate and then went boating after I don't really remember the order lol. But then we just hung out and played games and then went to bed! we slept on top of the houseboat and it was fun! The stars were Soo pretty! 

The next day we had French toast for breakfast and it was super yummy! Then we went to hike horseshoe bend and it was SOOO pretty!! It was like a little red mountain surrounded by water lol. After that we got soda and then ate lunch and then went back out on the boat! We went surfing again and I didn't do as well as the night before, but it was still super fun! I think we might be gone tubing this day too but I don't really remember not gonna lie. Then we did bracelets and put beads in our hair! After that we ate dinner and then did a camp talent show! Most of the talents were just funny and it was awesome haha! Jenna and I played the ukulele with a spatula and sang I'm yours it was fun! we won prizes and they were tubes we could swim with! We also had a little birthday party for one of the girls in the ward so that was fun too. We swam some more and played some games and then I was SOOO tired so I fell asleep pretty quick haha. 

The next morning we had another hike! This one was in a canyon and part of it was kinda like a slot canyon. It was super pretty!!! very tiring tho lol. When we got back we ate and then went out on the boat to go tubing!! Dude, I am SO good at tubing haha I do NOT let go!! It's so much fun then we came home and tie dyed shirts which was a blast! I was kinda nervous cause mine usually never look good but I was SO PROUD IT LITERALLY LOOKS STORE BOUGHT!!!! We did some more crafts and then went out on the boat again!! We went surfing and I actually figured it out!! The bishop's son gave me advice and then once I threw the rope in I stayed up for a super super long time!! I'm genuinely so proud of myself hahah! 

We came back home and did some minute to win it games and I did seriously so good I was on a roll! I won like every game I did!!! Then the bishop answered questions in a little question box we had out over the week and then we had testimony meeting after that. It was really good and there were lots of tears lol. After that we had a dance party and it was super fun then we played a ton of games like bang and mafia! I did an amazing job as the narrator and also my alibis were amazing too. We stayed up super late haha and then we went to bed. The next morning me and like 3 other girls woke up at 5 AM TO GO BOATING ONE LAST TIME! The water is soooo nice in the morning and it isn't choppy or windy at all! S the bishop's son and his friend went wake boarding and then the rest of us went surfing! And dude I'm for real a pro now I'm seriously so proud!!! Then after we ate and cleaned up and headed home! it was a super fun camp!! and I LIVED outside on the lake haha it was sooo fun!
