Happy Birthday, Josh!!

Happy 8th Birthday to our Josh!!  Josh was lucky because both his Grandmas sent his birthday present up early and so he got to open them both on his birthday!  Grandma Jensen has a tradition of giving each of the kids a nice set of scriptures on their 8th birthday and so Josh was really looking forward to his!  Thank you, Grandma Jensen!!  He also got money, candy, and other surprises from Grandma Westra.  Thank you, Grandma Westra!!  From us he got a soccer ball, slip n' slide, balloon rockets, lots of rubber bands to make rubber band bracelets with and a new suit for his baptism day.

He opened his gifts in the morning in the morning before I took Jaiden left to her 7:30 a.m. piano lesson.  Josh was also lucky because he got to go on a school field trip on his birthday!  They went to the Children's Museum and a place called "Wood Creations."  He got to choose what he wanted for dinner (pizza) and so Rick picked up several Papa Murphy's Pizzas and cake and ice-cream.  I also picked up a gluten-free pizza from the grocery store for Jenna and made a gluten free cake for Jenna so that she wouldn't feel left out.  We sang to Josh tonight and then all of the kids had fun playing outside in the beautiful Spring weather with all of their friends!!

Belated Birthday Party -- Josh

Josh's birthday was six weeks ago.  We had a small family party but no friend party since I was heading out of town for a few days shortly after his birthday.  He wanted to invite a couple of friends to go to Jumpin' Jacks.  I promised him that we would set a day to do that, but it would have to be on a Thursday since that is their discount day -- otherwise it would be too expensive.  With all of the end-of-year programs, however, every Thursday was booked.

So now with school out, I decided to grab the chance to finally have his belated birthday party.  He invited his friends, Seth Fisher, and Kyson Goates.  Josh got some fun toys, candy and a big package of water balloons from Seth.  (My kids are really into water balloons right now) and a big puzzle set from Kyson. All of my kids came to Jumpin' Jacks too -- except for Janika and Jenna.  I didn't want to bring Jenna because she required so much extra attention last time I brought her and so I bribed her with a treat and Janika promised to paint her nails.

The kids had a great time -- they jumped, slid, bounced, and played ball for two solid hours.  Jase and Jared were really cool about letting Josh and his friends hang out with them. I just snuggled up on one of the little couches and read a book.  I even lay down and dozed for a bit.  It was great!  We came home and had cake and ice-cream.  Happy Belated Birthday, Josh!
