FARR WEST: Jerry Ernest Jensen, 81, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2015. He was born December 24, 1933, in Farr West, Utah to Ernest L. and Viva Geisler Jensen. As a child he lived in Farr West and Ogden. His childhood home was filled with music, as both his mother and father played in a dance band, so it was natural for him to love music.

During his grade school years his beautiful singing voice was discovered, and he was soon singing at weddings, funerals, church functions, etc. At the age of twelve he had his own one-hour radio program on station KOPP every Sunday afternoon which continued for three years. At the age of fourteen he began playing the piano and drums as well as singing in his father's dance band. He played with his father's orchestra for 32 years.

On September 27, 1957, he married Carol Morse in the Logan Temple. They made their home in Farr West where they raised their wonderful family.

He was an active member of the Farr West First Ward. He retired from the State of Utah District Courts as a court administrator after 37 years of service and soon after began sharing his musical talent with those confined to rest homes, etc. He catered weddings, made wedding cakes, and was co-owner of Jerry's Greenhouse in Farr West. He enjoyed working with wood and created many treasured articles that graced his yard. Jerry was known for his honky tonk piano playing and performed with his family at Lagoon Amusement Park for seven years. He also blessed the lives of hundreds of children across the Wasatch Front with his jolly Ho Ho Ho. His grandchildren were very pleased to learn their grandpa was the real Santa.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Carol, and the following children: Kyle and Caleen Jensen, Craig and Connie Jensen, Jodi and Troy Venable, Julie and Scott Yearsley, Rick and Wendy Jensen, and Gerilyn Jensen. He felt very blessed to have twenty beautiful grandchildren and eight great grandchildren with one more on the way. He is also survived by three sisters: Betty and Jim Harmon, Florine Hadley, Zelda and Keith Barnett, Rex and Saundra Jensen. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant daughter Holly.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11a.m. at the Farr West First Ward, 1800 N. 1800 W. in Farr West, with a viewing Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM at the church. The family will greet those who wish to pay their respects from 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. prior to services on Saturday.

On September 27, 1957, he married Carol Morse in the Logan Temple. They made their home in Farr West where they raised their wonderful family.

He was an active member of the Farr West First Ward. He retired from the State of Utah District Courts as a court administrator after 37 years of service and soon after began sharing his musical talent with those confined to rest homes, etc. He catered weddings, made wedding cakes, and was co-owner of Jerry's Greenhouse in Farr West. He enjoyed working with wood and created many treasured articles that graced his yard. Jerry was known for his honky tonk piano playing and performed with his family at Lagoon Amusement Park for seven years. He also blessed the lives of hundreds of children across the Wasatch Front with his jolly Ho Ho Ho. His grandchildren were very pleased to learn their grandpa was the real Santa.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Carol, and the following children: Kyle and Caleen Jensen, Craig and Connie Jensen, Jodi and Troy Venable, Julie and Scott Yearsley, Rick and Wendy Jensen, and Gerilyn Jensen. He felt very blessed to have twenty beautiful grandchildren and eight great grandchildren with one more on the way. He is also survived by three sisters: Betty and Jim Harmon, Florine Hadley, Zelda and Keith Barnett, Rex and Saundra Jensen. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant daughter Holly.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11a.m. at the Farr West First Ward, 1800 N. 1800 W. in Farr West, with a viewing Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM at the church. The family will greet those who wish to pay their respects from 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. prior to services on Saturday.

A special thank you to all family, friends, and caretakers who did so much to bless Jerry's life during his recent illness. We love you!

FARR WEST: Jerry Ernest Jensen, 81, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2015. He was born December 24, 1933, in Farr West, Utah to Ernest L. and Viva Geisler Jensen. As a child he lived in Farr West and Ogden. His childhood home was filled with music, as both his mother and father played in a dance band, so it was natural for him to love music.

During his grade school years his beautiful singing voice was discovered, and he was soon singing at weddings, funerals, church functions, etc. At the age of twelve he had his own one-hour radio program on station KOPP every Sunday afternoon which continued for three years. At the age of fourteen he began playing the piano and drums as well as singing in his father's dance band. He played with his father's orchestra for 32 years.

Tonight was the Blue and Gold Banquet.  The leaders did a great job putting it together and our kids had a blast!

Happy Valentines Day!

Sat. Feb. 14:  Happy Valentine’s Day!  Rick woke up and fixed everyone a nice big breakfast with scrambled eggs, sausage, hashbrowns and fruit salad.  He got a container of Pringles potato chips to put on each child’s plate along with the Valentine he wrote for them.  I told him that Pringles chips were not gluten free and he didn’t know that and so Jenna was throwing a bit of a fit because she didn’t get some.   I gave her a bag of Swedish fish instead, but she was still complaining. 

We had a lot of work to do – as we do most Saturdays – and today was no exception.  Valentine’s Day or not, jobs still needed to be done.  Janika helped a lot but mopping both the tile and wood floor, but with the other kids, it was like pulling teeth to get them to do anything.  It is so frustrating trying to get our kids to work.  I feel like I have to be right there with them every minute prodding them along or working alongside them in order to get them to do anything.   I try to work alongside them when I can, but I can’t be everywhere at once and I only have so many hours in a day and have my own work that needs to get done too.  I kept after the kids over and over to get their jobs done and Jenna piped up, “This is the worst Valentine’s Day ever!” 

Actually it was a nice Valentine’s Day.  Rick and I went out to eat for an early dinner.  We were going to go to Texas Roadhouse, but there was already a long line reaching clear out the door – and this was at 4:30!  So we went to the Mexican place called Durangos  instead.  Then Rick and I started our fast and went to the temple to do Sealings.  Jase is receiving his patriarchal blessing tomorrow at 4:00 and so we are starting a fast tonight until after his blessing.  

Rick and I did sealings, bringing in the names Janelle found.  The spirit was there and it was really nice!  Then Rick and I came home and watched a movie on Netflix called “I Hate Valentines,”  which was a cute little romance movie.
