Congratulations to our College Graduates!!

So proud of all of our graduates!! Janika Jenson graduated from Utah State University with her Master of Education in Psychology! I love what Brandon posted on social media:

"I'm so proud of my wife Janika Jenson for graduating with her Master's degree from USU! Not only did she do an amazing job getting through this program, but she finished it up while dealing with the challenges of pregnancy as well. Now only a few more weeks until she gets a new challenge to master!" 👶

Jase Jensen and Ellen Jensen graduated from Dixie State University -- Jase with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and Ellen with a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Studies with an emphasis in organization and applied leadership.

Jared Jensen also graduated with his Associate of General Studies from Dixie State University and is continuing on with his Bachelor's degree in Business Administrations. He didn't "walk" for graduation since he is just continuing on at the same school.

We were sad that we couldn't go to Logan to attend Janika's graduation, and then Dad got the stomach flu and wasn't able to attend Jase and Ellen's either!! So that was a total bummer! At least we were able to watch Janika's through the live stream and Dad was able to watch Jase and Ellen's through the live stream also. Thank goodness for technology!!

This first collage of Jase and Ellen and Evan below is of photos that were taken on April 20th by Ellen's sister, Lexie. They turned out SO darling!! The second collage are just some snapshots we took right after the ceremony before heading to Cafe Sabor for lunch!

This is a bad picture on the right (and he took it before I was smiling), but I thought it was hilarious that I happened to be wearing the exact same outfit at Jase's high school graduation back in 2016 that I was at his college graduation six years later in 2022. I guess I don't update my wardrobe very often, ha ha!

Jase's good friend, Ky Phillips, also graduated from Dixie State University with a degree in Communication Studies. He and Jase have shared graduations from elementary school, high school, and now college!

Senior Award's Night

Jase had his Senior Awards’ night.  He received awards for Sterling Scholar, High Honor roll, Scholarships to DSU and SUU (and a Sterling Scholar one to Weber which he didn’t apply for) and Regents.  He and his friends cheered loudly for everyone and took a bunch of goofy pictures afterwards.

Yes, they actually took a selfie in the middle of the ceremony in front of everyone...

Southwest Regional Sterling Scholar Competition

The Southwest Regional Sterling Scholar competition was today! Jase and his two best friends, Ky Phillips, and Ben Lords competed today and Ben WON!!  He is now the regional Sterling Scholar for Computer Technology!!  FYI to myself -- If we ever go to this banquet again with another child then I need to tell my hubby that YES, he actually DOES need to wear a tie!  :)

Reflections

I really like the PTA Reflections Program and always encourage my kids to participate.  I was excited when  Jaiden (second grade) decided to do a project but was disappointed that none of the other kids wanted to.   Then Jase (eighth grade) decided to participate because his Language Arts class required the students to choose either Reflections or another essay contest later on in the year.

I didn't go to the elementary school's Reflections Awards Ceremonies because we had several things going on that night.  Then her teacher called me the next day to say that her project had won in her age group and category and was going on to District.  I would have made it a point to go if I had known she was one of the winners.  Then we got a call later on that day saying that Jase's story had also won and would be going on to District as well.  Surprise, Surprise!  We couldn't go to his Awards Ceremony either because of Caroler rehearsals.

I didn't think to take a picture of Jaiden's project before we turned it in so I will have to do that after we get it back.  It was really cute. The theme was "Diversity Means..."  Jaiden drew a world with different colored stick figures standing around the world holding hands.  For her artist statement she wrote something like, "Everyone is different all around the world.  It would not be fun if we were all the same.  I am glad we are all different!"  Jase wrote a short story about two enemy pirate tribes who end up overcoming their differences and uniting forces because of the bravery and friendship of their two leaders.

Apparently the elementary school didn't do trophies or even medals this year -- just ribbons.  Bummer.  It didn't seem to dampen Jaiden's excitement over winning though, so that is good.  Jase, on the other hand, got a certificate AND $30.00 in cash!  So he was one happy kid!

Jase's Fifth Grade Graduation

Jase had his Fifth Grade Patriotic Program and Graduation tonight. They did a great job on their program. Jase was one of only six students who earned the "Give Me Liberty Award." Way to go Jase! We are so proud of you!
