Church History Tour Day Eleven (Liberty Jail, Community of Christ Temple, Kanesville Tabernacle)

(Camden) So today we all had breakfast then went to Liberty Jail, that was really cool to learn about and see where Joseph smith got some of his revelations and how he changed while he was there, then we went to Independence, that was really cool, the Community of Christ temple that is there is beautiful and we got a tour of it, that was cool but the tour was definitely different and something was missing. We also looked at the temple plot there and saw the stones that were supposedly laid there. We then drove for a while, had lunch at subway, I loved it, then we drove more, it was kinda crazy by the side of the freeway we could see houses and roads that had been flooded. We then went to the Kanesville tabernacle, which was interesting to see and learn about, cool to see how we got our new prophet and how the church was functioning without Joseph. Then we drove to our hotel, went out to eat, had Tia food, then went and got cookies, was a good day.

Church History Tour Day Ten (Trail of Hope, Community of Christ Sites, Adam-Ondi-Ahman, Tom Sawyer Caves)

(Shane) Here's the update from yesterday's activities: At 5:40 am, Rick woke us all up saying "The mob is coming, we need to leave in 4 minutes". We threw on clothes and went to the "Trail of Hope", and read some of the stories from the saints as they we leaving Nauvoo. We came back to the house, got dressed for real, and went on the tour of sites run by the Community of Christ church (Mansion House, Settlement House, Red Brick Store, graves of Emma, Joseph, and Hyrum, etc.), and did a bit of shopping. Then we came back to the house, and were temporarily locked out of the house...after getting in, we packed up and left Nauvoo. We drove for a while, then had lunch at a Mexican restaurant, then drove some more to Adam-ondi-Ahman, then after some lesson and scripture time, continued to Far West. We then went to Dairy Queen for a late dinner, then to Day's Inn in Liberty MO to sleep for the night.
