Jenna: Learner Permit!!

Jenna has been so anxious to start learning how to drive and wanted to take the test for her learner permit as soon as she could after her 15th birthday.  The after-school appointments were booked out the week of her birthday and so I set up an appointment for her for today. I really wasn't sure if she would pass it or not because I didn't know how much she had really studied. But she DID pass -- and on the first try!! Way to go, Jenna! She has been bugging us to take her driving, but I said that she had to get her permit first. Now, we better start scheduling some driving practice! I can't believe my baby is going to be driving soon!!

Janika: Learner Permit

Janika took her test for her Learner's Permit today and she passed!  Yeah!!  I had been getting after her all of the time because she just never seemed to be motivated to study for the test.  A couple of weeks ago I finally just set a date on the calendar and told her that I would take her to get her Learner's today and that she needed to be ready.  And she was!  The lady at the counter told us that it is rare for teens to pass the test on their first attempt (they don't have a class for it, they just have to study on their own).  We were grateful that she passed  -- especially after waiting around at the DMV for two hours!   Now we can sign her up for Driver's Ed.  Except now that school is starting she won't have any time since they only offer it either before school (which conflicts which Madrigals) or after school (which will conflict with rehearsals for the school play and Caroler practices.)  So we may have to put it off until January.  She has to have this permit at least six months before she can get her license anyway.  She has never been behind the wheel of a car before -- time to start practicing...eeek!
