Fall Carnival

Tonight we went to our neighborhood Fall Carnival. This includes the annual chili cook-off with chili, desserts, dunk tank, face painting, cotton candy, and cake walk. I stuck to chili that I KNEW was gluten free since I had a reaction a couple of years ago. Jenna had been SO mad that she had a Madrigal performance right during this party. She and Clarissa had even ordered Halloween costumes for the event. Jenna came right over after her performance and was still able to get some food and hang out with friends for a bit. She came right in time to dunk Ethan in the dunk tank, ha ha! He started to go after her but I said he absolutely couldn't get her madrigal dress wet! She headed home in order to get ready for dance. Busy girl!

Young Women Overnighter: Coral Pink Sand Dunes

Jenna went on a YW overnighter to the coral pink sand dunes in Kanab!! The trip included camping, hiking, belly of the dragon, and sand surfing!

The Farm

Today was fun! We met Jase and Ellen and their kids and Janika and Brandon and their boys at "The Farm" in Hurricane. (Also referred to as "The Fisher Family Farm.") We hadn’t been there before and it was awesome! It probably wasn’t as big as Staheli Farm, but there was plenty to do and see and the kids loved it!

It was also quite a bit cheaper than Staheli Farm. We had a 50 percent off deal from the Starving Student Card and so we were able to use it for our entire group. With the discount it ended up being only $45.00 for the whole group! No bad at all! They had a little bike operated roller coaster where someone rides a stationary bike that powers a little roller-coaster car up a hill and then the momentum takes them the rest of the way. It was a big hit! The kids also enjoyed the swings, corn pit, bounce house, slides, tractors, teeter-totter, and animals. The weather was perfect and it was a fun family event!

Happy Birthday, Jenna!!

Jenna is 17!! Love this girl so much!! Rick and I were on a cruise and were supposed to get home the night before her birthday, but due to transportation problems we ended up not getting home until tonight. Jenna was gone pretty much all day and evening with Ethan anyway on an extended birthday date!

Cruise to Canada

Rick and I went on a work cruise the end of September. It was supposed to be going to Bermuda (which is why we chose it) but because of Hurricane Humberto, it was rerouted to Saint John, Canada! So that was disappointing.

We left on the cruise, Friday, September 26 around 9:30. We flew out of St. George to LAX. LAX kept getting delayed and we waited for a hour to an hour and a half in the plane before it FINALLY left for New Jersey (EWR). But at least it was comfortable and we could watch movies while we were waiting.

I watched THREE movies on the flight, ha ha. Rick does a lot of work on planes on his laptop, or tablet. If I do that I get motion sickness. I watched a new release called "Parent (something)" and that was fun (except for some unnecessary language). Then I watched "Back to the Future," which I haven't seen in years. Then I watched the "Barbie" movie, since I slept through at the first time I saw it.

When we arrived and got on the ship we were very unpleasantly surprised to find that they put us in crew cabins! Thankfully they fixed the situation later and we were put in a regular cabin! In spite of everything, the cruise ended up being great and we loved getting to know the people we worked with!

Visiting Reversing Falls Rapids in Saint John, New Brunswick

After the cruise we were supposed to arrive home the day before Jenna's birthday. Well, our Uber driver went the wrong way or something and got us late to the airport, causing us to miss our flight! We just barely missed it! So we ended up having to book a hotel and stay another night. It ended up being okay, but I felt bad getting home later since it was Jenna's birthday the next day and we wouldn't be home until evening. She was out with Ethan pretty much the whole day anyway and so it worked out!
