Community Party

Today I took the kids (the five youngest) to a Community Event which included face painting, egg coloring, games, and an Easter Egg Hunt (even though Easter was last week).   Unlike our gorgeous weather Easter weekend, today was  raining and cold.  I was praying that the rain would at least let up so that the kids could have their Easter Egg Hunt.  It did and I was grateful!  The kids got tons of eggs that were either filled with candy or fun little toys -- so they were in heaven!

Josh's Birthday Party

Josh turns six on Monday and had his birthday party today.  He had two choices.  He could invite lots of friends and have the party either at our house or the park and play games, OR he could invite just two or three friends and go to Anti-Gravity.  He chose Anti-Gravity.  I was okay with that because it was a lot easier for me!  He invited two kids from his kindergarten class and our next door neighbor.  The scab above Josh's lip is from a run in with a match box car.  It is looks a lot better than it did.

Track Meet

Jared qualified for the Track Meet over at the High School and so Jenna and I went and watched him run the 800 and the 400.  The top two places in each race qualify for the Hershey Track Meet in May and Jared barely missed it by coming in third place just milliseconds behind the second place winner.  So he was a little disappointed.  Jenna had fun running up and down the bleachers.   After watching him run I had to go pick up Josh from kindergarten and hurried back to barely see the end of Jared's second race.  I told Jared that if he does this well without training then imagine how good he could be if he actually tried running once in awhile at home.  I think the only time he actually runs is when he is in a race!

 

Jaiden's Journal "My Easter" (Age 7)

 

Easter Morning

I was exhausted after so many activities yesterday and several hours in the sun.  We ended up getting to bed quite late. So I definitely wasn't ready when Janelle and Jaiden burst through our door at 7:00 a.m. asking if they could see their Easter Baskets.  I told them to go back to bed for a half hour, which was the wrong thing to say since a half hour later they came through our door again.  I told them they had to wait until the other kids woke up.  The kids were excited about their Easter Baskets.  We left for church with sticky bubbles mixture on the floor and table, candy wrappers all over the house, and sugar filled kids.  But we made it -- early even, and had an enjoyable service (except for me having to teach Sunday School)!  After church we had a nice meal of ham, potato salad, green salad, jello, asparagus, and corn.  Abbee and her roommate, Courtney joined us and we had them hide the Easter Eggs for the Jensen family Easter Egg hunt.  (Thank you to Grandma Jensen for sending down the candy filled eggs!)
