Pre School 2012-2013

Jenna is in two Pre-schools this year.  This one is on Tuesday/Thursday mornings and taught by the moms.  I wasn't sure how I would like it at first, but I thought it turned out to be really successful!  There were a couple of times when it was cancelled at the last minute because a mom (or one of their kids) was sick, but that can't be helped. Everyone did a great job on their week and the kids always came home with fun pictures, crafts, or projects.  The kids had a great time, it was free, and since our turn to teach only came around one week out of seven it wasn't too overwhelming.  I think I will try it again next year!

May 13-18 Recap

Monday 13:  Janelle had another fieldtrip today -- Junior Ranger Day at Tonaquint Park.  Note to self:  Next time I ask Janelle to tell me about her fieldtrip (or any other activity she is involved in) make sure I allow at least an hour for the blow by blow account to be related!

Tuesday 14:  Jared, Janelle, and Jaiden had their piano lessons today.  Rick brought Jared to his Art Show at Lava Ridge.

Wednesday 15:  Jaiden had a fieldtrip to Sand Hollow to go swimming. Their class walked to and from and went to the park afterwards for lunch.  I brought Jaiden and Jared in to the the dentist this afternoon to get their cavities filled.  Jenna had a water party for pre-school.

Thursday 16: Janelle had a field trip to Sand Hollow today -- also walking to and from.  Josh's Chinese Program was this afternoon at the school.  I had a class tonight and so Rick brought Jase to his award's ceremony at the High School.  When I asked them how it went, they both said BORING!!  So I didn't feel too bad that I had to miss it.  Jase got a certificate for achieving a 4.0 all year.  Actually he has gotten a 4.0 every quarter all through intermediate school and middle school!  Way to go, Jase!!

Friday 17:  Jenna had her pre-school program practice this morning and the girls went to Activity Days this afternoon.  Tonight Rick and I went to Jaiden's Spring Dance Recital.  It was fun to watch her.  I got some good videos but the pictures turned out terrible -- they were all blurry.  I just can't get good action shots with this camera.  Maybe I should changing the setting next time.

Saturday 18:  Rick went to temple tonight and I went to Jaiden's second night of her dance recital.  I brought to KRAVE afterwards and she was so cute.  She kept saying, "Thank you SO much, you are the best mom ever!!"  What a sweetie!

Happy Mother's Day!!

Mother's Day was AWESOME this year!  For part of my Mother's Day present, Rick taught my lesson for gospel doctrine today -- which I really appreciate!  That saved me several hours of time and stress this week.  Rick made me breakfast today and cooked a delicious Salmon dinner for the family.  Rick and I had lots of nice quality time time together today.  The kids all gave me their cute little gifts that they made at church and school.  Janika made me a darling little bulletin board.  Jase made me some gluten free peanut butter bars.  Rick bought strawberries, cheesecake, and ice-cream for Mother's Day Tea.

Our Mother's Day Tea party was hilarious!  The little kids love dressing up for Mother's Day Tea -- the older boys, not so much!  Rick and I always throw something together at the last minute.  I searched my closet and saw my old overalls and thought it would be fun to wear overalls and pig-tails.  Rick must have liked the idea because he also found a pair of overalls (also mine) and wore them (with no shirt -- apparently he wanted to go really hick!)  His expressions, walk, and accent were so funny,  I was totally cracking up the whole time.  The kids just rolled their eyes and told him to please go put a shirt on!

Janika said, "I think when we started this tradition we all dressed up in Sunday best and hats -- but now it has gotten totally out of control and it just plain weird!"  Maybe next year we will go back to the traditional dressy tea party wear -- but then again, that might not near as fun!

Tuacahn Junior Prom!!

Tonight was Tuacahn's Junior Prom.  Janika went with Cameron Jenkins and Kiara Christensen went with Andrew Armstrong.  They went horse back riding in the morning and Janika came home SO sore!  For the evening portion of the date they ate dinner at Andrew's Mom's house and then went to Andrew's Dad's house for pictures and then off to the dance!  They watched "Night at the Museum" at our house after the dance.  They had a fun time!

Week's Activities

Friday 3:  Janika had her Hyperion Musical tonight.  I was bummed that I forgot my camera.  The students wrote and directed the entire thing -- the script, music, everything.  They ended up doing it more like a reader's theatre than actual play -- I think because they ran out of time.  Rick and I were actually quite impressed!  Janika had one of the leads with a couple of solos.  She did a great job, as did all of the kids.  We enjoyed the show!

Saturday 4:  Rick and I went to an interpreter workshop at the Deaf Center this morning for four hours.  It was quite informative.  Then we picked up the Boutineer for Janika's Prom tonight.  I brought Jaiden to the open house for one of her dance teachers who just graduated from Dixie and is moving out of state.  Janika went off to prom and we took a ton of pictures!

Sunday 5:  Rick and I had a very nice meeting with our Branch President this morning as we prepare to transition from our Deaf Branch back to our Hearing Ward.  Today would be our last Testimony meeting in the Branch and so Rick and I took the opportunity to share our testimonies.  We enjoyed the potluck afterwards.  That is a tradition that we will miss!

Monday 6:  I hosted playgroup at my house for three hours this morning and then worked on finishing up the grades for my ASL class.  It was nice to get all of that finished up!

Wednesday 8:  Janelle had her Water Fair Fieldtrip this morning.  I went with Janika to the City Council Meeting this evening to see her recognized and presented with her cash award for winning Santa Clara City Princess.

Thursday 9:  Josh had a fieldtrip to the park this morning.  I decided to go for a walk with Jenna and invited her friend, Clarissa, along.  We passed Josh's class on our way there.  It was getting really cloudy and sprinkling.  The girls played at the park for a while and then it started to pour!  I sought shelter under the pavilion but the girls loved running around in the rain!  It let up enough for us to walk home.  I really enjoyed the cooler temperatures this week!  Rick went to Jared's choir concert tonight.  I had a conflict and wasn't able to attend.  I picked up Jared after Parkour.

Friday 10:  Rick brought the boys to the Father and Son's outing.  They didn't bring a camera so I didn't get any pictures.  The girls and I celebrated with a "Girl's Night Out."  We went out for Mexican food and then came home and watched "Rise of the Guardians."  Janika and I stayed up late and watched the new "Les Miserables" movie.  Janika had seen it opening night with a group of friends, but I hadn't seen it yet.  I really liked the movie and was very touched -- except for the scene where Fantine becomes a prostitute.  That whole scene just made me sick and bothered me SO much!

Saturday 11:  Rick said that they had a really good time on the Father and Son's Outing -- except that it was really cold at night.  It had been raining on and off for the past few days here and so I was worried that they would get rained on but he said that it was fine. I brought Jaiden to her dress rehearsal for her dance concert.
