Children's Museum

The kids had a blast at the children's museum today!  I had never been there and didn't realize how much fun stuff there was to do. The kids lasted three hours -- I was surprised!!

Jamming to "Bop Till You Drop" from High School Musical....

Grandma Jensen's maiden name is Morse and so our kids were wondering if we are related to this guy.

Spinny Park

This afternoon I took the kids to the Spinny Park.  The weather was beautiful!  The kids had a great time.  The Purdy's came too and they brought the Olsons girls.  Mari Purdy had also texted Megan Greaves and Lydia Song and they came and brought their kids too.  Fun times!!

Haircuts

The girls have been bugging me to get their hair cut for a while now and so today I set up appointments for all three of them.  They turned out cute!  Jaiden wanted layers and I love how it turned out!  I think Janelle would look really cute with layers too but she didn't want them.  Janelle got about 9 or 10 inches cut off.  Jaiden got five inches cut off and Jenna probably about 8 inches. Hopefully it will be easier to take care of!

Zions

Rick took the four youngest hiking at Zion's National Park today and they had a great time!  They packed a picnic and hiked to Weeping Rock.  Rick told them a long made up story about how the rock got it's name and had the kids each contribute their version to the latter part of the story.  After coming up with their version, he had them come up with the name of the rock that looked like a castle (which was included in their story.)  The one with the best name and explanation would win their very own Costco "very berry sundae!"  (Usually we share the sundaes).   All of the stories and explanations were terrific, so they ALL got their own "very berry sundae."   It was beautiful weather but it was crowded!

The rock formation behind them (that looks like a castle) was the rock formation that they named.

Science Fair

Today was the science fair -- boy, those projects really are a LOT of work!!  I was glad to get it over with!  I had always wanted to try an experiment with growing bacteria and so I had suggested it to the kids and they were excited about it too.  It was cool to watch the bacteria grow but I never want to do that again!  The bacteria really started to stink after a couple of days even with the sealed petri-dishes and I had to cover the incubator with a cookie sheet.  It was gross and made me a little paranoid that we might get sick from it!  So I was relieved to get rid of it!

But Jaiden still has hers to do (also with Bacteria) and so we aren't finished yet!  Hers will be simple though and she is old enough that she should be able to do it all herself with just a little supervision, unlike Jenna who required LOTS of parental help!

And there probably isn't as much bacteria as the project suggests. Normally we use antibacterial cleaners on the counters, sink, and so forth, but we purposely didn't use them for fear it would skew the results.

I went to the school to look at all of the projects -- I can't believe the kind of time that obviously went into some of these projects and their boards.  Some of them really went all out in decorating their boards.  Josh (age 9 -- fourth grade) and Jenna (age 7 -- first grade) didn't win anything but they didn't really seem to care.  It is the first Science Fair Project for both of them and so they didn't have any preconceived notions about what to expect.

Josh and Jenna School Music Program

I went and watched Josh and Jenna in a school music program. Josh's was on Monday and Jenna's was on Tuesday. I guess they have music for a half hour each week and do all sorts of fun things like singing, instruments, zumba and more.  Today they were showing us what they had learned.  It was fun!
