Mother's Day Tea!!

Our Mother's Day Tea was pretty rushed because Janika and Brandon needed to head back to Logan.  We pretty much just had Bridal Shower leftovers for our treats. Janika and Brandon were a prom couple (pretending to be Hailey and Jared from their last prom where they made their own goofy corsage and boutineer from Dollar Store flowers). Janelle is from the black and white silent movies -- which is why she edited herself into black and white. Jaiden is a spy, the boys are superman, Jenna is a Ballerina, Rick was a sick person named "Sloth." He went around talking in a very slow sickly voice. Since the church announced last Tuesday that they would not be chartering with the Boy Scouts of America starting in January 2020, I decided to dress as a Scout master to honor the time we have left (even though I am very happy about the announcement)!

Me and my goofy husband...

Jaiden asked us to get some "action" shots of her!

Janika's Bridal Shower

We had Janika's Bridal Shower (for the ward and a few friends) this morning at 10:00 in Kalli Potter's backyard. This kind of thing is stressful to me but thankfully I had the help of my friend, Allison, and there were several others who were willing to help bring food. Allison brought the banner and home-made blueberry scones with lemon curd, Charise brought Swedish Cream with berries, Juli brought strawberries, Sherrie brought grapes, Mariposa brought gluten free muffins, Ruby brought dairy free/gluten free muffins, Janika baked lots of mini muffins, I brought mini muffins, mini cinnamon rolls, watermelon, and pineapple.

Everything turned out nice and the weather was perfect! Originally it was supposed to be up in the 80's later today and I was worried about it getting too hot and so I planned it for a brunch in the morning for that very reason. But then the temperature ended up dropping 15 degrees overnight and we actually moved our chairs from the shade to the sun because we were a bit cold! We had about 35 people who came. I will have to remember that number the next time I plan something like this. We easily had enough food for double or triple that. I always over-estimate on everything because I don't want to run out of anything. At least we had lots of leftovers to pass out to our helpers and plenty for our Mother's Day Tea the next day! Janika got lots of really nice gifts. She and I are really grateful to supportive friends and family!

Josh Soccer

Josh really enjoys soccer and can't wait to tryout for a competitive team later this month. He wanted to tryout last year but we wanted him to give carolers a try and didn't know if he would be able to do both. He enjoyed carolers, but still really wants to do soccer and so this year that will be his focus. He will probably still be in carolers too. Josh was one of the best players on his team (and also one of the smallest!)  He is really fast and made the most goals this year. His team won every games except for one. We had several people come up after games and ask Josh if he was interested in trying out for their competitive team!

This was right before he scored one of his goals.
The goalie is turned around in the second picture watching the ball go in!

Jenna Soccer

Jenna had a great soccer season!! She and Clarissa were disappointed that they didn't end up on the same team. But they did end up with the same number!!

Janelle made Madrigals!!

Janelle auditioned for Madrigals this week. The auditions were quite in depth. The first day they had to come prepared with a solo, learn their chosen part on two different songs given them ahead of time (she is auditioning for Alto), be able to sing a variety of scales in different keys, and sight read a sheet of music handed to them. Then they all met on another day where they sang the two songs with the others who were auditioning in quartets -- one from each part. She did really well and felt good about her audition, but there were a lot trying out and only limited spots. Seniors get preference (if the talent is equal) and she will only be a Sophomore.

We found out several days later that she made it! A few of her friends made it too. She is really excited!!!

Jaiden tried out for Dance Company for the high school on Thursday and Friday. We found out yesterday that she made it! I was excited to find out about Dance Company. She had considered trying out for either Eshelles (the drill team) or Cheer Leader for the high school, but we we encouraged her to wait a year. I think this will be a better fit for now, and it is much more affordable!!! She will start practices in the summer and then every other day before school at 6:30 a.m.!!

Sand Hollow Field trip!!

I went with these cute girls to their Sand Hollow field trip today! I was running a little late and so I decided to park halfway and meet the kids en route as they walked to the pool.

Jenna had insisted on bringing her mermaid tail even though I tried to convince her otherwise! After struggling for several minutes to put it on and hopping over to the pool, she barely dipped in her feet when the Lifeguard told her she wasn't allowed to have it!

But all in all the kids had a great time playing and I was able to get acquainted with a couple of the other moms. When we left it was starting to rain pretty hard and so they called buses to come pick up the kids. Unfortunately since I had my car parked halfway there I had to walk a half-mile in the rain back to my car!
