Josh: Senior Ball!!
Today was the last high school dance for Josh! I am glad that he could take Allie Lemmon, from our ward. She had asked him to a girls' choice dance earlier in the year, but he had already been asked. They went with Josh's friends Adam and Caleb Parkhurst, and Cameron Hugunin. Adam took Sarah Lyman, Caleb took Emily Condie, and Cameron took Taylor Peterson. They started off with pancakes at our house. A couple of the kids were gluten free, so I was glad that we had some gluten free pancake mix available.
After breakfast they went to Veyo pools and to a place to try and catch crawdads. They even brought hotdogs to try and catch them. They said they only saw one, and that the Veyo pools were a little cold, but they still had fun. Then they brought their dates home to get ready and then met at 6:00 for pictures. I told Josh that Tuacahn at 6:00 would work because the sun went down behind the mountain about that time (I had been paying attention when going to Jenna's dance concert). But Cameron suggested a place in Kayenta. It was kind of in the middle of nowhere and there were two round-abouts next to each other.
Josh had asked me to take the pictures, so we all drove to Kayenta, but it was really hot and sunny with no shade anywhere. It would have been a nice location had we done the pictures later, like at 7:30, but they wanted to do pictures before dinner. Also, some random lady came hiking up the road and said, "Do you know this is private property?" So anyway, we ended up going back to Tuacahn anyway. They didn't want to take pictures by the waterfall, and so we took them in the middle of the road, which actually looked really cool, but we kept having to move every time a car came.
We got some nice pictures though. We had to take the rest on the bike trail instead of the road because we had to keep moving, ha ha. The kids all went to the dance and had a fun time and then went to Cameron's house for games. I came home and stayed up until midnight downloading and going through the pictures -- editing a few, deleting some, and putting an album of around 300 pictures together to share. I will put a few on this post. I am glad that everyone had a good time!

Southwest Dance Concert: Jenna
I thoroughly enjoyed watching Jenna's dance concert the past three nights! She was really excited when she was asked to play the part of Nali and she did a terrific job! She looked so graceful and beautiful! Jenna's friends Clarissa, Grace, and Anna all came to watch her along with their moms, Allison and Amy. We all went out to Dairy Queen after for ice cream and had so much fun!
DNA Project
Jenna said that she would get five extra credit points if she got her DNA project turned in early (this Friday). I thought it would be way too stressful to even attempt it since it was her dance concert week with long rehearsals all week, plus three nights of performances. But she had all of the supplies and came home from her first performance and stayed up until 11:00 finishing up her DNA project all on her own and got it turned in and got 100% on it. Way to go, Jenna!! (I also like how it matches her shirt, ha ha)!

Happy 18th Birthday, Josh!
It was a good birthday for Josh! With his birthday money ($75.00) he bought a pair of shoes and kept the rest of the cash. We also got him some little snacks and treats. His friends also came through with several gifts for him. Tonight he had a soccer game against Pine View. Rick and I went to watch. He made an awesome assist and another awesome goal and his team won. Josh was voted "Man of the Match," (MVP) for the game. Way to go, Josh! (Also, can you believe he is 18??)

Meeting Baby Callan
I finally got to go see our newest grandbaby -- Callan Vance! I had scheduled April 11th to come up to visit for a few days and then learned the night before that he would be coming home from the NICU that day! So it was perfect timing! He was born on March 24, so he had been in the NICU for almost three weeks. I got subs for all of my classes at the University on Thursday and Friday and headed up Thursday morning. After I arrived I stayed with Everett while Janika and Brandon went to the Timpanogos Hospital to bring Callan home! When they were close to getting discharged they called me so that I could bring Everett to the hospital to get him. He is SO tiny!! They brought Everett over to see the helicopter and then we all headed back to their home!

Josh Soccer
Madrigal tryouts are coming up soon and the first audition prep workshop was this morning at 7:00 am. So Jenna, Clarissa, Grace, and Anna all went. Usually those four go to the temple every Friday morning at 6:15 am, but Madrigal auditions will mess up their plans for the next month. This week I just happened to schedule their temple trip on Wednesday, instead of Friday, since Friday was already booked. That was before we knew about the conflict, so that worked out well!
I then interpreted from 9:00 to 2:00 at the University. Jenna had her appointment for dance pictures at Southwest and so she and I drove to that and then Ricked picked her up after his interpreting appointment, and then he had a work meeting.
Tonight Jenna sang the national anthem for Josh's soccer game! I guess she takes after her big sister, ha ha! I was proud of her for agreeing to do it and happy that she did well. Then Rick and I watched Josh's soccer game against Crimson Cliffs. It was such an exciting game!! Crimson Cliffs is the school that seems to win every year. Josh says that they are actually supposed to be a 5A school, but then they wouldn't have anyone to compete with in the area since all of the other schools here are 4A schools.
The game ended on a tie and so it went into overtime with two ten minute halves. And then a couple of minutes later Josh scored!! It was so exciting! The whole team ran on to the team and was hugging and cheering and the stadium started playing music and flashing lights. Rick and I didn't even realize that the game was over until someone told us, ha ha. We thought that if it went into overtime then they would finish the rest of the time. But then someone explained that the first goal scored in overtime was the "Golden Goal," and the game was over. So, Josh scored the winning goal! It was especially exciting since it was against Crimson Cliffs! Snow Canyon is undefeated, having won their first four games, so as of right we are the only undefeated team in our region!
