The Sound of Music

I had gotten tickets for me, Jenna, Jaiden, and Janelle to go see The Sound of Music at Tuacahn tonight! We later found out that our ward party was also scheduled for tonight, which included a BBQ at Vernon Worthen Park and then swimming at the Dixie City Pool. Josh and Jenna were really excited when they found out that the ward had rented out the entire pool. We have a small ward which means it wouldn't be crowded and they would have lots of turns on the water slide.

We all went to the BBQ and then split up. Jenna had decided ahead of time that she preferred the pool over The Sound of Music and so we gave her ticket to Janelle's friend, Ellie. Rick stayed at the pool with Josh and Jenna while Jaiden, Janelle, and Ellie came with me to the show. The play was excellent. We loved it! Josh and Jenna also had a fun time at the pool!

Tuacahn: The Little Mermaid

Tonight we went to see The Little Mermaid at Tuacahn. The talent was great, as usual, but we were disappointed that they didn't have all of the cool special effects that they did in the 2014 production.  Rick and I came and our three girls were able to each bring a friend! It was fun!

Back to School!!

First day of school! Janelle started her Junior year, Jaiden started her Sophomore year, Josh started his first year of middle school (8th grade) and Jenna started her very last year of elementary school!! It saddens me that after this year I won't have a child in elementary school any more!! Janika started kindergarten in 2001 and Jenna will graduate from kindergarten in 2020. It will be hard to say goodbye to elementary school after 19 years!!

The Friday after school started Jaiden and Josh and their friends attended the first SCHS football game of the year. Janelle tried to photo bomb the first picture on her way out to work. I didn't get any pictures of Josh since he went straight from school to a friend's house and then to the game. Our team lost, but the kids still had a great time!

EFY Janelle

This year I went to EFY with Ellie Kenworthy. We were so excited. We went to EFY at BYU Provo, and it was my first EFY going there. We started by checking in and then going to meet our companies. Our counselor was named Angie, and she was awesome. Our guy counselor was named Benj, and he was a party. We had a great time with them. We played some games after meeting everyone, and then we went to our first morningside and then played some FHE games with our company. It was a great first day.

The second day we started with gospel study, and then went to the morningside, which was great. Then we went to the classes which were awesome. The spirit was just present all day with all of the awesome lessons. Me and Ellie participated in the musical program, which means we would eat lunch fast and go down during lunch and free time. It is a great experience, but I wish we could still have free time. Anyway, after free time and dinner we had the dance, which was awesome. EFY dances are seriously the best, it was so fun. Then we went back and got ready for bed and had reflect and review and everything. It had been an awesome day.

On Wednesday we had mainly the same layout for the day, with gospel study and the morningsides and classes. It was great. Some of the classes perfectly answered the questions that I had and I learned so much. After all of that, we had games night in the evening, which was really fun. We had learned and practiced some of the games beforehand and were prepared. We won one of the games! It was a fun time. After that we went back and had pizza night with the girls in our company, which was really fun. We got to ask everyone different questions and get to know each other a little better. It had been a great day.

Thursday was spiritual day! This day is always awesome. We started with gospel study and a morningside and then we split up for young men’s and young women’s.  We had some really good lessons about our roles in the gathering of Israel. Then it was the infamous variety show! My company’s name was The Keys and throughout the week we had been throwing and snapping our lanyards, and we had decided to audition for the variety show with that. And we didn’t make it! Can you believe that? Well anyway, all of the acts were awesome. There was one magic act where a guy from our company went up as a volunteer and snapped his lanyard before coming back down. Everyone was probably so confused, but we were so proud. It was legendary. After the variety show we had free time, which meant practicing for the musical program. Then later after dinner we had the musical program and fireside. Me and Ellie had auditioned for solos and had gotten a duet together! It went well. The musical program and fireside were both super spiritual and were probably my favorite parts of this week. After that we had the testimony meeting, which was also really good. Then we went back and had R and R and went to bed!

The next day was our last full day of EFY, which was weird to think about. After gospel study and everything, we had a whole bunch of take it home and sharing the gospel games. They were really fun, but it was really hot outside where we were playing them. Then during free time me and my company went bowling, which was a blast. Then later we had a dance! It was fun, but I think I liked the first one better. Then after that we had a final message from our session directors and we sang the EFY medley together. It was great. Then we met with our company and had our last meeting together. We made new goals to take home and thought of ways to bring the messages home. The next day we said our goodbyes to our EFY family and headed home! It was an awesome week that was so filled to the brim with the spirit and I’m so glad I got to go. It was incredible.

Cousins and EFY Drop Off!

Shane and Alicia moved back to Utah! We are all excited to have them back! Since I was driving to Provo this morning to bring Janelle, and her friend Ellie, to EFY, I thought it might be fun to bring Jenna along for a mini vacation to see her cousins. Shane and Alicia said it would be fine to come see them and stay at their house so we checked the girls into EFY and then headed to Lindon. Jenna was so excited to see her cousins! They showed us all of the renovations they had done on their house after the renters moved out. It looks nice! We visited for a bit and then we all went swimming at the Lindon Pool! Then Alicia fixed a delicious dinner. After dinner we all went miniature golfing! The next morning the girls painted nails and then Jenna and I headed back to St. George, stopping at Wendy's for lunch on the way home. It was fun to spend time with family and get some one on one time with Jenna!

New Granite Counters!!

We love our new granite counters!! Now we are going to work on painting! Jaiden's room (pictured) is already painted and so is Janelle and Jenna's (not pictured). The kitchen is not painted yet and so right now the walls don't go with the counter-tops, but they will once we paint them!

Jenna's Homemade Box House

Jenna is SO creative!! She is constantly making things with whatever she can find around the house. Today she and Clarissa made this elaborate Doll House using a cardboard box with random scraps of material, straws, plastic cups, and so forth. They made bunk beds for the bedroom, pictures on the walls with a bean bag pillow for the family room, a little toilet and sink and towel rack with a miniature towel for the bathroom, and a Styrofoam table and little bar stools for the kitchen. It was really pretty amazing!! Building the doll house and then playing with their stuffed animals in it kept them occupied for hours!
