Josh's Broken Hand

When we got out of our morning movie (see next post) there were several messages on my phone and Rick's phone. Josh was on a backpacking trip last night in Pine Valley and apparently he was  running down the mountain this morning with his huge pack on his back when he slipped and fell on his hand. His scout leader guessed that it was broken. So Rick went home and brought Josh to the ER. Janelle and Jaiden were home from camp by this time and Janelle had gotten Josh some ice and made him a little make shift sling out of bandannas. What a sweet sister! Rick took Josh to the ER to get his hand looked at and sure enough, it was broken! It was a displaced fracture of the base of the fifth metacarpal bone. He was given a splint and sling and told to wear the splint for a week and then get it switched out for a regular cast.
