Chris and Kim's Wedding

The whole van breaking down fiasco from last week left us in a quandary as what to do.  Should we pay almost $5000 to get it fixed? (It needed a whole new engine among other things), should be look around for a used van to buy, should we buy a brand new (or almost new) van instead?  We looked at a used 15 passenger on the way home from EFY that was for sale but it was pretty beat up.  After much deliberation we decided to go ahead and get ours fixed.  This was on Monday and the shop said they could have it finished in four days.  This was perfect since we needed it for our next trip the next Friday.  To be safe we also put a 15 passenger van on hold to rent.  Well we were very relieved when the van finished today around noon -- just before we needed to leave.  Rick arrived home with it around 1:00 and we scurried to get everything packed inside.  It is always stressful trying to get nine people out the door with all of our luggage (including all of our camping gear for this trip) especially when we had a deadline (my brother's wedding at 7:00 in Pleasant Grove).

We thought we would arrive an hour or two early and have time to stop at my brother and sister in law's house (Shane and Alicia) in Lindon in order to change clothes, freshen up, and eat dinner.  But things took much longer than we thought and I ended up texting Alicia to say we would have to go straight to the wedding.  We arrived at 6:55 with the kids and I changing into our church clothes in the van.  Rick pulled his bag out from underneath all of the luggage to find his church clothes and after quickly changing I pulled out a spray bottle to get the wrinkles out.  My girls hair was all curled and pretty when we left (I was stressing out this morning trying to get everything ready to go and Janika was out of town and meeting us there and so I hired Sadie (a teenager who lives next door) to do their hair.  She spent almost two hours curling it and it did a great job but much of the curls were gone by the time we arrived to the wedding that night.   So the day was a little stressful but I was just grateful that we made it on time and that everything went smoothly for the wedding!  It was at a park adjoining a church and they moved it inside at the last minute because of the wind.  The move was a good call and everything was lovely!   Congratulations Chris and Kim!

We met Janika at the wedding.  After EFY she had spent the week with her Aunt Gerilyn in order to work for her and earn some money (which she spent on prom dresses!)  Gerilyn dropped her off at my parents house and they brought her to the wedding with them.  It was good to see her -- we hadn't seen her in two weeks!  She had invited a boy she met at EFY to come too.  After the wedding we slept over at Shane and Alicia's.  Rick set up our tent in the backyard and he and most of the kids slept outside.  Shane had ordered pizza for everyone and the kids had fun playing.  Janika's friend came over too and they stayed up gabbing.  It was a beautiful night and our girls were really excited to sleep over in order to play with their cousins!

Sounds crazy! Car troubles are the worst! Glad you made it. Funny thing is we had a fam reunion that day and to move from the park to the church too because of the wind!
