Father's Day Flee was spent at Lava Hot Springs in Idaho this year. We camped with Curtis and Stephanie Healey's family (as usual) and also invited Todd and Jennie Condie's family. We all had a wonderful time. The weather was gorgeous (except it was cold at night which made sleeping a bit uncomfortable) and it did get pretty windy during some of the meals which left us hanging on to our plates and food to prevent them from blowing away.
The theme for this year was: "Power at the Pool." Rick specifically chose this location for Father's Day Flee since he wanted to talk about the healing power of the Pool of Bethesda from the New Testament and compare it with our visit to the natural hot springs. (I didn't have my camera with me at the hot springs and so I didn't get any pictures there). He then talked about where the healing really comes from. Curtis gave an awesome lesson on repentance and Todd told a story of faith as demonstrated by his son as he opened up the testimony meeting Tuesday night.
Father's Day Flee was so much fun but it was too short! We arrived Monday afternoon and set up camp and then had a dinner of hamburgers, hotdogs, chips, and watermelon. Then we had the opening ceremony with the infamous "dance of the dads" and then group games. Tuesday was our group lesson taught by Curtis and then the day spent at the water park and hot springs. Tuesday evening was Rick's lesson, an awesome dutch oven/solar oven dinner of roast and chicken and potatoes and peach cobbler (cooked by Todd) and later than night was the group testimony meeting. Then the teenagers and some of the adults went back to the hot springs and some of the adults stayed and helped get the younger kids to bed. Wednesday morning everyone left. See what I mean about too quick? We really need at least two or three full days for Father's Day Flee but it was only a day and a half which was too short! It was fun though! Here are some pictures!
