Building Forts

Stephanie taught our next lesson which was on "Building or Rebuilding Your Spiritual Fort."  For the activity she divided the kids into two different teams and they were instructed to build a fort (using only natural materials) that would be used for their protection in a group game.  These kids immediately set to work moving logs and sticks and bark. They really got into it and their forts were pretty amazing!  Brandon and Jase kept working on theirs throughout the day long after the other team's fort was finished.  I am surprised they didn't ask to sleep in it!  Then the teams played a game where they had to try and get a team member into the other team's fort with their token (which was a little ball of bread) without getting caught or tagged.  Each person was given two balls of bread and that was their ammunition to get the other team member's out.   They had to plan strategies and work together in order to accomplish their goal.  Afterwards everyone came together and talked about what did and didn't work.  Steph shared scriptures from the Book of Mormon about Captain Moroni and the strategies he used.  Then she applied it to modern day and how we can build our own individual forts of protection.  Here are some pictures of the forts (and of course there is Jared with his pocket knife.  I don't think he goes anywhere without it.)
